In our hearts forever
We are heartbroken by Representative Claudia Griffith’s passing. Claudia came to us immediately after the founding of Yes All Daughters. In response to our protest in November 2014, Claudia was relentless in her work to do all she could do as a legislator to create change for victims.
Our work with Claudia
Claudia Griffith’s family has chosen to support (scroll down to donate) our Yes All Daughters initiative in her honor. We are humbled and grateful that her memory will live on through our work to advocate for victims and fight for legislation aimed at sexual violence prevention education.
Together, we authored and passed legislation to train teachers and administrators on how to respond to victims in the aftermath of an assault. It became law in Oklahoma in 2015. The way in which trusted adults respond to young people when they disclose an assault directly impacts how they heal after a traumatic event.
Claudia went on to co-author two other pieces of legislation we wrote, including our most recent effort with Lauren’s Law. Just last month, Claudia and Stacey Wright started planning legislation for next session aimed at protecting the most vulnerable in our communities from sexual assault.
We are honored to have known and worked with her. She was a fierce advocate for our cause. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, her fellow legislators, and all those in our community who grieve her loss.
The most expert research to date shows that education works to reduce the first time perpetration of violence.
Yes All Daughters
We couldn’t have made it this far without our amazing supporters! Contributions to this fund directly support the initiatives of Yes All Daughters. We’re working to cover costs directly related to advocating for our current bill, outreach to increase the knowledge-base of communities, and implementing a database to sustain our work and create inclusive opportunities for volunteers.
“At night, I listened to my daughter weep. I watched as my amazing, bright, beautiful daughter turned into an angry, frightened, ashamed, and hopeless child.
I remember that night like it was yesterday. I was at an all-time low. Driving over to meet with Yes All Daughters, I couldn’t have imagined what God had in store for us. I felt so abandoned. The police and the school had been awful.
I walked in the door with nothing but a broken heart and found you all. Your tragedy met ours. You saved our lives that night.” – Melanie
“Yes All Daughters was a light in a really dark time for me.”
“When I was at my most helpless and hopeless as a parent, Yes All Daughters saved us both.”
