We help prevent sexual assault and bias-based violence through advocacy, education, empowerment, and support. Preventing first time experiences of violence is a critical goal and focusing on the most at-risk environments is our key focus in 2017 and 2018.
Additionally, we are dedicated to creating spaces and events that companion and welcome people who have experienced trauma. We are committed to creating a platform for survivors to create and realize their own initiatives as part of their healing. LOMA Victim/Survivor Support Services
Proper Groove provides a victim/survivor centered approach that increases opportunities for people to actively reclaim joy in social and community spaces.
We bring together issues experts and leaders in the nighttime and social economies to change systems that perpetuate aggression.
We provide a professional advocate who can walk victims/survivors through the process to healing and wholeness.
Our current training curriculum launch is Proper Groove’s Safer Bars/Clubs Bystander Intervention Training. We empower the next generation of artists, patrons, owners, staff, and advocates by teaching skills that promote social norms that reduce violence and train them to identify situations that require bystander intervention and make safe choices to do so.
Bridging the gap between advocates and citizen participants builds a winning team! We partner with organizations and known issues experts and actively supervise and evaluate this work. Research in the US and Canada has shown there is a divide between patron and establishment views on the response to combating violence – now is the time to work together. Our resource base is expanding to include referrals and resources for individuals at-risk of initiating unwanted behaviors or perpetrating violence.

Additionally, we will provide coaching for males interested in proper ways to engage in social situations!
Collaboration & Community Initiatives
Proper Groove was created out of community initiative and to meet needs of our unique community. We have partnered with other community organizations to share information, develop curriculum, and create a network of bystanders who are activated and engaged. We provide fiscal sponsorship to community organizations that meet our aligned needs and unique needs of the communities we serve.
